What is the Pensionado Visa?

The Pensionado Visa grants direct, indefinite permanent residency to foreign nationals receiving a lifetime pension. Under Article 200 of Executive Decree 320 of 2008, the pension may come from a foreign government, international organization or private company.

Key requirements

The minimum lifetime pension is US$1,000 per month. If the applicant owns property in Panama valued at at least US$100,000, the minimum pension may be reduced to US$750. Each dependent requires an additional US$250 per month.

Documents and process

Documents generally include the pension certificate, police certificate from the country of origin or residence during the last 2 years, medical certificate and valid passport. Foreign documents must be apostilled or legalized as applicable. The residence is permanent; the identification card is renewed periodically.
